Brief Overview: |
Welcome to Introduction to Drawing! In this course we are going to begin to go in depth into the skills that will help make you better at drawing. We will learn how to SEE and how to DRAW what we SEE—not what we “KNOW.” We will experiment with different drawing techniques and mediums and create some cool projects in the process.
This class will be fast-paced in that we will move from one topic to another rather quickly. We will certainly take more time on larger projects, but on days when we are doing a series of drawing exercises, it will move quickly and those assignments are difficult to make up. Therefore, attendance is a MUST. Emergencies happen. But it is important that you are here EVERY DAY. |
Portfolio Design Drawing Basics (Contour, gesture, composition) Negative Space Perspective Value (Black & White; Color) Pen and Ink Surrealism Portraits (Facial Features and Proportions) As you can see, we are putting A LOT into this one course. It will be a lot of work—but it will definitely be fun! What we actually get through will depend on how much time we need to take for each project. So, it is important that you use your class studio time to its fullest. **For those students who are interested in taking their art to the highest level in AP Studio Art, MAKE SURE you create your best work EVERY TIME and that you KEEP everything you create, including your sketchbook. (The College Board allows you to submit work from previous courses as part of your portfolio). I look forward to an awesome semester! |
